Week 73: 500 Miles

and I will walk 500 more!

Hey all,

So this week was a super awesome week but also pretty long! I'm in my new area and we were just filled with lots of work, we have just been working super hard to find new people to teach! The funniest thing that happened was Tuesday morning. My first real day in the area we wake up got all ready and we planned out our day and at 8:30 we started studying and we get a call. My companion picks up the phone and he tells me that our recent converts house just fell over and she needs our help, that it was an emergency! So we stop everything and walk about 30 minutes to the edge of our area. Turns out my companion heard her wrong, her house didn't fall over but a snake entered her house and she was to afraid to go inside. So she hands me a machete and says go in and kill it. So I find it but it just runs away and for the next hour we just looked for this snake but didn't find it. Then by that time we couldn't go back to our room, so we just knocked doors. We literally worked from 8:30 until 9:30 pm with only 1 hour for lunch. It was a long day but super fun!

Today for lunch we were going to eat papa johns but me and my companion decided it would be better to not spend tons of money and get fat. so we bought pringles and a milkshake from burger king and that was our lunch! it was delicious!

I have seen tons of miracles as I work harder. We knocked so many doors this week and talked with so many people, and I really saw so many blessings. I like a scripture in D&C 24: 12-"and in all times and in all places he shall open his mouth and declare my gospel as with the voice of a trump, both day and night, and I will give unto him strength such as is not known among men." I really felt that extra strength from the Lord this week as I walked so much and was physical so exhausted but everyday I woke up ready to keep fighting! It was really a great blessing. I know the Lord is always on our side ready to help.

Also I loved the talk "Come what may, and love it" by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin from the 2008 October conference. I recommend you all look it up and read it. One of my favorites.

Everyday here is the best day ever!!!!

Love,

Elder Luke Gruber
